Q: What kind of game is Elderlands?
A: Elderlands is a Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG).

Q: How do I apply for Closed Testing of Elderlands?
A: Fill out entries of the form here: Apply for Closed Testing. Our support staff reviews applications on a daily basis. Understand that applications are automatically rejected if all the fields are not filled in.

Q: Where do I download Elderlands? How do I create an account?
A: You can download the client from here: Downloads. However, before you can play you must create a game account by visiting this link: Create Account. (Notice: Your login information that you use at Elderlands Forums is not the same as your Elderlands game User Name and Password, and vice versa!)
Once you have downloaded the game you simply run the Elderlands.msi file. This file will install Elderlands onto your computer and place a shortcut to the game on your Desktop. If you are having troubles installing the Elderlands.msi file then you may want to download the Elderlands.zip file which allows you to bypass the .msi installation process.
Warning for Vista Users: If you do not have administrative access to your computer you do not want to install Elderlands under the “Program Files” sub folder on your computer.

Q: I forgot my password and cannot log into the game. What can I do?
A: You can retrieve your password here at this link: Request Password.

Q: When will Elderlands open for public testing?
A: When the developers feel they have a grasp on all issues and when there is a steady flow of features coming into the game.

Q: Will Elderlands have music?
A: Of course! Music will be implemented into the game in future testing stages. You will have the option to turn it on/off. Elderlands songs are being written and composed by a very talented man named Paavo Härkönen (DEV Tarantula).

Q: I am a parent. Is Elderlands safe for my children to play?
A: As with any online game, parents should use discretion when deciding if their child should be allowed to play. Online environments are very dynamic and can at some times not be suitable for younger children. Elderlands attempts to create a friendly environment for all players or most age ranges.

Q: After the testing stages, will I have to pay a subscription or one-time-payment to play Elderlands?
A: No, the game can be played completely free of charge for unlimited time. However, there will be an option to upgrade your account status to Premium Account. Having a Premium Account will benefit you by giving you many new gameplay options and game features, and thus will make your playing experience far more enjoyable.

Q: How can I become a Game Moderator (GM)?
A: In the past, there was an application form that Lead GMs or Developers would send out to people who shown interest in the position. This however was closed, due to a high amount of applications received and a lack of available positions. Currently, new GMs are handpicked by Lead/Senior GMs who observe players on the forums and in the game. When searching for additional GMs, we are looking for mature, patient, and devoted players who will bring something special to the GM team in order to provide the best possible service for the Elderlands community.

Q: How can I become a Board Administrator (BA)?
A: Send a Private Message (PM) on the forums to one of the GM leads (GM Volchok, GM Westley), stating your e-mail address, if you wish to receive a BA application form. Once you have received your application form, please fill this in then return it to one of the GM leads. You will be contacted if the GM leads need more BAs and if they feel you are active, mature, and responsible enough to undertake training as a BA, and finally to become a full BA.

Q: What is Stygian Worlds? Why do people on the forums talk about it?
A: Stygian Worlds is a game that will be developed by If-Else Software, Inc. in the future, after Elderlands has progressed through the necessary stages of testing and has launched commercially. Stygian Worlds will offer many of the same style of game-play features as Elderlands but in a rich 3D environment with a very detailed and interactive world.
